Therapy for Autistic Burnout
Therapy for Autistic Burnout in California and Tennessee
Autistic burnout is a state of profound physical, emotional, and cognitive exhaustion that often develops after long periods of masking, sensory stress, or chronic overwhelm.
Many autistic women in our culture reach burnout after years of adapting to multiple environments—workplaces, social settings, family expectations—that require constant effort to navigate.
Women experiencing autistic burnout often describe feeling as though their capacity has suddenly collapsed. Tasks that were previously manageable may now feel impossible. Sensory sensitivity increases, concentration drops, and everyday responsibilities begin to require far more energy. We might find ourselves feeling frozen, unable to do the things we used to, but unsure why.
In my work with autistic women throughout California and Tennessee, therapy often focuses on understanding the conditions that led to burnout and developing a life structure that places far less ongoing strain on your nervous system.
